## Context
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI agents to external tools and data. This integration lets you connect your own MCP server, so the agent can work with your APIs and systems directly.

With Unless, your MCP server plugs into Living Context. Your AI customer agent can run actions against your own endpoints as part of a conversation. Every procedure carries explicit permissions: what the agent does alone, what needs approval, and what is off limits.

### Key benefits
- __Your tools, your rules:__ Connect any MCP-compatible server and expose exactly the actions you choose.
- __Permissioned and audited:__ Every action respects the boundaries you set and points back to its source.

### How does it work?
Unless connects to your MCP server through Living Context, so your agent can run permissioned actions against your own APIs and show its work on every step.

## Install instructions
Once at the [Integrations tab](https://unless.com/en/dashboard/data-management/integrations/kb/mcp-server "Unless dashboard integrations") of your Unless dashboard, you can select "Configure" for the MCP server integration. This will open a popup where you can enter your MCP server endpoint and credentials and set up the integration.
